A Potty Post

Yep, here it is, the ol' standard of a mommy blog. I'm feeling a little mommy-blogger-y today.

What I really need is advice. See, my boys have just started to pee standing up. Exciting, right? Ha, everyone with boys knows it's not exciting...it's messy!

So my question is: is it fair to require TK to wipe up the disaster of misses every night since it's his Y chromosomes that are causing this "pee standing up" mess? I feel like since *I* contributed the X chromosome, which everyone knows is the "pee neatly sitting down" chromosome, I should be excused from the endless cleaning of the 5 foot area surrounding the potty...

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my. Mike handled the whole "pee while standing up" thing with Burke...so he's been getting BURKE to clean up his own messes.

Have you tried the cheerio in the water for better aim yet? I haven't...lemme know if it works ;)

The H-man's been standing pretty much since day one. Sigh. His daycare provider teaches them to hold on to their shirt while they go (it forces them to focus on something, thus, in theory anyway, avoiding distractions which result in watering the "5 foot area").

I've also been known to put the H-man to work at cleaning up his messes ;). Aside from that, we end up splitting the clean-up between the x and the y-chromosome donors.

Now, if only I can everyone to stop peeing outside...

I gave up. But i'm considering giving the 8 yr olds (the messy ones) a sponge and some lysol. Howeverrrrr, Little Guy (almost) never makes a mess. He enjoys "making bubbles" in the toilet...which is good, because I don't think I would ever be able to run in with cheerios! Good Luck!

Let me know if you figure it out. I taught my son to sit when he had to go in the middle of the night. He was so sleepy he was lucky if he aimed in the right room.

Now that our son is 7 (and still aim-challenged) his dad DID declare it's He-Twin's responsibility to swab his own decks, as it were...so light at the end of the tunnel. ;)

(Although it's never done without a reminder and much kvetching declaring it's She-twin's fault. How exactly I dunno....I've never seen her misdirecting his peenie... ;) )

I was mortified the day Murphy announced he wanted to pee like Daddy, but his aim has been pretty solid. The best is outside when he uses "nature potty" and tries to see how high he can get his stream. Ah, life.

Yes, kids should learn to clean up their own messes-from spilled milk to bad aim in the potty. ESPECIALLY important for your public outings. (Rant allert)

It is even grosser to go into a public bathroom and be confronted by a urine stained toliet. This has happened to me while I waited in line. The young boy and his mother were in the stall together. The mom just left the mess there. I certainly wasn't going to clean it up. I had to wait in line some more for the next stall. Please, please, please teach your kids to clean up their messes in the bathroom. Other people's bodily fluids are gross!
