It's cause I watch One Tree Hill, isn't it?

I just checked my blog's reading level. Read it and weep, baby. Weep at the zillions of dollars apparently wasted on my higher education:

Okay, seriously, I worked in business. What do they drill into your head? That you must write at a junior high school level. That it's the most effective way to communicate. That you should communicate to be understood, not to try to impress people with your copious vocabulary. Hee, did you like that "copious" instead of "large"? Is it still funny if you have to explain it? I always get confused about that. Or should I say obfuscated?

I'm aiming for "junior high". That my story and I'm sticking to it.

(This was test was snagged from Postcards from the Edge...hi Deb!)

I got "High School." Now you have me worried that I'm writing over my readers heads.

Don't tell my dad. I think he's still paying for that college edukashun.

Oh, I have to try this...
When I worked in newspapers, we also aimed for 8th grade. And I do still think you can tell a much better story with good, solid, easy-to-understand but descriptive words, than silly three-syllable detritus. I'm with you, Ms. Card!

HA! I had elementary school level.
is it cuz of my wonderful grammar, and punctuation; and spelling: or is it my content?
HA HA!

Awww, thanks for the shout-out. Now watch out everyone - she's gonna start using the big words (um...copius?). At least everyone did better than me - but as I said to someone else (I have no idea who-there are too many of you) with my "elementary level" at least I still get a nap time (heehee)

PS. Card, I am not and will not give up - just had to get past the waterworks first. Thanks ;)

As a federal employee and frequent writer of publicly-consumed materials, junior high is the HIGHEST level I write for...sad, sad, sad. Maybe that's because fewer than 55% of kids (in GA at least) finish HS. Ugh. I have a hard time writing the fancy schmancy professional stuff now!

Though I suspect One Tree Hill is surely to blame in your case...hahaha. I'll blame Rock of Love, 1 AND 2!!

Mine said High School - I think it is becaues I use so many run-on sentences with parentheticals. :)
