Tapping the collective wisdom

A few questions for you all. Yes, this is hardly a post, but more a request for help :)

How do you keep your kids' mittens from getting lost? Do you like the mitten clips? I've also heard of sewing a long piece of ribbon to the mittens and feeding it through the coat sleeves. Any other idea? My kids constantly take their mittens off/have them fall off, so I'm sure they'll get lost if I send them to school. But on the downside, they were outside in 30 degree weather yesterday to play and I hadn't sent gloves. Bad mommy!

Do you have any suggestions of songs I could use for a DVD I'm making for my mother-in-law of pictures of the grandparents with grandkids? My tastes in music run from "pretty inappropriate" to "insanely inappropriate".

Thanks!

LOVE the mitten clips!! And the kids don't seem to mind them at all. *knock wood* we haven't lost any mittens yet. (Now I need a "hat clip" :D )

2 things about the string through the arms: strangulation hazard; and when reaching far for something, your other hand gets yanked into the coat.

Just did a search for grandparent songs and got this:
Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
You Are the Sunshine Of My life - Stevie Wonder
Le Chaim (To Life)- Fiddler On The Roof
Sunrise Sunset- Fiddler On The Roof
Tradition - Fiddler On The Roof
In The Mood - Glenn Miller
Through The Years - Kenny Rodgers
Can’t Smile Without You - Barry Manilow
Forever Young- Rod Stewart
Times of Your Life- Paul Anka
I’m So Excited - The Pointer Sisters
Have I Told You Lately - Rod Stewart
I’ll Be There - Mariah Carey or Jackson’s version
Everything I Do - Bryan Adams
Hero - Mariah Carey
I’ll Always Love You - Whitney Houston
My Way - Frank Sinatra
New York, New York - Frank Sinatra
Rock Around The Clock - Bill Haley and The Comets
Simin Tov Mazel Tov
We Are Family -Sister Sledge
Hot Hot Hot - Buster Poindexter
I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder
Respect - Aretha Franklin
Ease on Down the Road - Michael Jackson & Diana Ross
I Say a Little Prayer – Diane King
Takin’ Care of Business - BTO
Happy Together - The Turtles
It’s Not Unusual (to be loved by anyone) - Tom Jones
Your Love is My Love – Whitney Houston

LOL Some of those are crazy, but hey - it's a list ;)

We use the mitten clips too.

As for song.....how about "I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places" by Bing Crosby.

I had one of those string/ribbon thorough the sleeves things when I was a kid. I may have to do something similar for mine...

For a song, how sappy are you feeling? Someone gave us a CD last year of Disney standards sung by Steve Tyrell. It's a little schmaltzy, but it works in some situations. I'm thinking "Baby Mine" from Dumbo, though that may be more "mommy" than "grandma." I'll email you an iTunes link.

We use the mitten clips - not sure I love them, but they work ok. I like the idea of the string, less chance of them getting lost, because my boys take the darn clips OFF. And then they get lost durin gthe year. GRRR.
